I don't know the actual back story of this poor cone, but I imagine there were tears shed over its fate. Certainly there was a small child with two sticky hands, fingers and arms all spread out, in a fruitless attempt to avoid smearing ice cream in even more places.
We came across it near the sea lion amphitheater and I thought it had broad interpretive potential.
